The Dances
The GOTTA DANCE--CAJUN STYLE Video provides detailed instruction on three Cajun dances:
- Cajun Two-Step
- Cajun Waltz
- Cajun Jig
The instruction will take you from the very basic or novice level to the intermediate/advance level.
The video is in both DVD and VHS format and provides the following special features:
Shadow Dance. This dance position provides an option to the basic dance position for the Cajun two-step.
Three Minute Jig Sequence. The jig portion of the instruction builds a series of hand and arm movements that essentially can be performed within about a three minute period (the approximate length of a number of Cajun songs) with minimal repetition of the same move. Each move is taught in detail to include an orderly transition to the next move. The various moves included in the sequence are: waist turns, sweetheart sequence, show-off and windmill sequence, window series, hammer lock series, hand over head and pivot together, and bend and turn. The moves are taught in a sequence. Once the moves are learned, they can be placed in any order desired.
In addition to the basic waltz instruction, a number of hand and arm movements and turns are provided. The following moves are included: deliberate and fast foot turns, simple and multiple turns to the ladies right and left, promenade, single and multiple lariats, reverse lariat, overhead turns right and left, flip-flop, sweetheart, sweetheart chain, and hand over head and pivot together.
Lagniappe (something extra). A demonstration of a series of dances including: a fast paced single couple jig, a four-some (2 couple) dance, an eight-some (4 couple) dance, a five couple Cajun folk dance, and a five couple train/umbrella dance. This portion of the video is not instructional in nature.
